There’s something magical about the Millennial Fair in Chrono Trigger—a scene so full of life and nostalgia that it stays with you long after the game ends. For me, it’s one of the most memorable parts of the game, and that’s why I chose to recreate it as a diorama cube. I wanted to capture that feeling of excitement, discovery, and the charm of a simpler time in gaming.
From the moment you step into Leene Square in 1000 A.D., the fair feels alive. The colorful banners, bustling NPCs, and festive music create an atmosphere that pulls you in. The mini-games, like the soda-guzzling contest or battling Gato, the musical robot, aren’t just fun distractions—they make the world feel real. I spent hours competing for silver points, betting on racers, and exploring every inch of the fairground, completely absorbed in its joyful chaos.

But beneath the bright colors and cheerful music, the fair is setting up much bigger things. Choices that seem small—like helping a girl find her cat or deciding whether to steal a bite of a merchant’s lunch—come back to haunt you during Crono’s trial. It’s a brilliant way the game teaches you that every action matters, a theme that runs throughout the entire story. That blend of innocence and complexity is a big reason why I felt the Millennial Fair was worth capturing in a diorama.
Of course, the scene that really sets everything in motion is when Marle is pulled into a swirling blue portal at Lucca’s Telepod. That moment, shocking and mysterious, turns a carefree day at the fair into the start of an epic adventure through time. It’s a twist that never loses its impact, no matter how many times you replay it.

My goal with the diorama was to bottle that feeling—to take a snapshot of the fair’s charm and nostalgia and bring it to life in a way fans could keep and admire. Each detail, from the flags waving in the breeze to the vibrant stalls, is meant to transport you back to that first walk through Leene Square. If you’ve ever wished you could step back into the world of Chrono Trigger, this diorama is for you—a piece of the Millennial Fair frozen in time, ready to spark that same sense of wonder all over again.
